Monday!

Hi Parents,

Students were ROCKSTARS today as we worked on our end of the year assessments.  Today students earned a movie party and a crazy hair day tomorrow.  The only rule with the crazy hair is that the hairstyle cannot be distracting to themselves or others!

Thank you to those parents that have let me know what lunch choice your child has picked!  I still have a few I am missing.

1.  ALL library books are due. We will not be checking out anymore this year. Please contact the library directly if you can't find a book, as I do not have access to your child's account.
2. Please let me know if your child wants hot or cold lunch by Tuesday.  The Kitchen has asked for our numbers and money by the end of Tuesday, so please let me know by Tuesday!  If your child chooses hot lunch, please send their money in a labeled envelope asap.

3. Our End of Kindergarten Spring Concert will be June 13th at 6:30pm. Please feel free to invite all your family and friends! Please note that students need to arrive at 6:15pm. Please do not arrive earlier, as there will be no one to monitor them.  WE ASK THAT YOU DO NOT COME EARLY TO RESERVE SEATS.  After taking your child to the classroom at 6:15, you will have time to walk to the multi-purpose room and find your seating.
4. PLEASE NOTE, OUR LAST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN IS THURSDAY, JUNE 16TH!  For grades 1st-6th, the last day is June 17th.

5. We will be doing our "Snack-nic" on the last day from 11-11:30 and 2:30-3:00!  Followed by students running through the breezeway to get their ticket to first grade!

Have a great evening!

Tuesday!

Today was a great day!  We started our day with our May memory book page!  After that we did our math page focusing on ten ones and some ones = teen number.  For example, ten ones and eight ones = eighteen ones.  After math, our APEX team came and taught us our fifth and final lesson, "Make a Difference."  We learned that helping in little ways, we can make a difference.  After that we did our calendar and daily news routine.  After that we enjoyed recess outside!  Then we had reading groups focusing on the letter Y and /y/ sound.  Today, we read our decodable book, did our ABC yarn page, wrote the letter Y, and listened to a story.  After reading groups, we completed our art from Friday!

Thursday!

What a wonderful day we had today!  The APEX group came again and taught us our third leadership lesson.  The first lesson was to "Dive In," which means to work hard.  The second lesson was about being "Resourceful," when we have problems it helps us to solve them by identifying five steps to help us solve the problem:  Who, What, When, Why, How?  The third lesson was today on "Elevating Others," which is being positive, complimentary, and encouraging to others.

We also worked on Math, had reading groups (working on J and Q), and wrote our next narrative sentence, describing what we did once we found the magic carpet in our story.  The PM class won the Popsicle contest in the school for the most pledges in the last 24 hour period!  Way to go!

Friday: Homework Folders are due and AM Library books are due!
Monday: Take Home books are due and PM Library books are due!

Have a great evening!

Happy Tuesday!

We had a great day!
We actually started our day with the APEX Fun Run team coming in and teaching us all about how to "dive in!" The APEX Fund Run will raise money for technology in our school. Please take a look at the pass as soon as your student brings it home. All the information needed is in your child's pass. Please log in and get familiar with the website. It is easy to navigate and for others to give pledges or donations online. If you have any questions, please email me.

We didn't have reading groups; however, we did do all our normal activities. The kiddos worked on reading, handwriting (Jj) and our ABC books.  We also did math, circling ten and writing the number sentence to match.  We also had the treat of walking through the first grade classroom and meeting all the teachers!  We are getting excited for first grade!

Important Information:
1. Log in to the APEX webpage and make sure to enter your child's t-shirt size. Every kiddo gets a shirt, so please get their size in right away so the shirts can be ordered.
2. No School on Monday, 5/30 (Memorial Day).
3. Science Fest will be held at Prairie View on 6/2 starting at 6pm.
4. End of Kindergarten Spring Concert will be 6/13 at 6:30pm. Please invite grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. to join us for this special night. Students need to arrive at 6:15pm and the show starts at 6:30pm.
