Thursday!

What a wonderful day we had today!  The APEX group came again and taught us our third leadership lesson.  The first lesson was to "Dive In," which means to work hard.  The second lesson was about being "Resourceful," when we have problems it helps us to solve them by identifying five steps to help us solve the problem:  Who, What, When, Why, How?  The third lesson was today on "Elevating Others," which is being positive, complimentary, and encouraging to others.

We also worked on Math, had reading groups (working on J and Q), and wrote our next narrative sentence, describing what we did once we found the magic carpet in our story.  The PM class won the Popsicle contest in the school for the most pledges in the last 24 hour period!  Way to go!

Friday: Homework Folders are due and AM Library books are due!

Monday!

What a great rainy day!  Today was also a very busy day!  We started our day by introducing our new letter of the week, Jj and reading our Alpha Tales book.  Then we did our picture guess and read our class pal "book" (Clifford or Tigger)!  Then we labeled the parts of a worm in our science journal and wrote some facts that we learned about them.  Students got to see an earth worm and a red worm and learned the differences between the two.  After that, AM students learned a new math card game, called "Hide the Zero" (PM will do this tomorrow).   In both classes, Mrs. Pittz came and taught us a social skills lesson on how to calm ourselves if we feel we are getting worked up.  In the morning class, we celebrated Gwyneth's birthday with her Royal Reader.  In the PM class we had our APEX Fund Run kick off, and PM students brought home their APEX Pass.  The AM class will get their passes tomorrow morning along with a mini kick off in our room!  PM kinders also had a short check out time this afternoon.

Wonderful Wednesday!

Today we started with writing some of the facts that we have learned about our fish in our science journal.  Then we drew what the guppy and goldfish each look like.  After science, we did our calendar and daily news routine, then we went outside for a wonderful warm recess.  After recess, we had reading groups focusing today on: reading the leveled readers, the number 12 on the rekenrek, writing the decodable and listening to "Cows To The Rescue."  After reading groups, we worked on teen numbers in math.  We are working on 10 ones and ____ ones together make ___.  After math both classes had about five minutes of free choice time.
