Hello Kindergarten Parents,
Thank you so much for coming to our Open House tonight and for checking the blog already!
If you haven't yet done so, please email me your child's name, your name/s, and best contact phone number so I can add you to my parent email list.
The directions to find the online transportation are:
Go to mead354.org
Drop down the menu Our District
Click on Transportation Info
Click on Where's My Bus Stop
You will then need to enter your home address and your school. Thank you for your patience as we gear up for school!
You can also click on this handy link to take you directly to the transportation page:
http://www.mead354.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=257925&type=d&pREC_ID=588884
Again, we are unsure what our Library time will look like this year. As soon as bargaining is complete, I will have that information and I will update the blog to relay the changes.
Lastly, please fill out all forms in your Open House folder on the right hand side and return these to me as soon as possible. Thank you for being so willing to help our students grow! Every single parent volunteer job is needed to make our program a success. Thank you for your help! I appreciate it so very much!
All the information we went over tonight is in your parent packet, including our behavior plan. Please read all this information and email me or call me if you have any questions. Your involvement and positive attitude of school will reflect in that of your child's each and every day of their school career. Thank you in advance for partnering with me to help create a love of learning in your child!
Happy Trails!

Terrific Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday!!
It has been a great week so far! We are reviewing and sharpening our skills of the sounds Qq, Zz, Jj, Yy and the sight words with, me, what, my, and where. Today, we spent time reading and blending sounds and writing words. In reading group, we worked on segmenting the sounds in a word, blending sounds to make words and also read our readers. At the parent helper rotation, we worked on subtraction with Pete the Cats Buttons, and we listened to a fictional story about a shark.
In math, we are also focusing on the students' fluency for subtraction and addition, as well as, drawing story problems and writing number sentences that match.
It has been a fun week for Isopods in science! Yesterday, we had our Pill Bugs and Sow Bugs out for a race and the Sow Bugs won! Pill Bugs are known as the Roly Poly, so we had a lot of fun holding those! Today, we observed, compared and contrasted our Isopods.
Updates and Reminders:
- If you and your child filled out the reading log to earn a Silverwood ticket, those are coming home in a white envelope tomorrow (Wednesday). Please check your students backpack, and please treat these tickets like you would cash. There are not any replacement tickets if your ticket is lost.

Happy Tuesday!
This week, our letter of the week is Yy, which makes the /yee/ sound. Our sight words this week are "where" and "me." Yesterday, we had a blast with worms! Each student held a night crawler or a red worm if they wanted to. We looked at the body parts and observed how they moved. This whole week we are learning about worms and what they do!
Today, we started our day with decorating and coloring a memory book page, then writing the capital Q and lowercase q, calendar, and daily news. During reading groups we worked on blending and sounding out words with our letter of the week. We cut, glued and colored our "ball of yarn" into our ABC book and listened to "Mother, You're The Best..." in honor of Mother's Day. After reading groups, in math we worked on taking apart numbers to find the two parts that make up that number. This week we are still working on subtraction using number bonds, and number sentences. We finished up our day with practicing our songs for our end of the year concert with Mrs. Longmeier's class.
